Steph Briggs is a local illustrator and painter with a love of architecture, animals and snapshots of daily life.
After decades working as an interior designer in Ireland and England she returned five years ago to Australia to pursue her passion for visual arts and reawaken her love of illustration.
Her wanderings through Melbourne are her inspiration: the streets, architecture, urban colour palettes, our nature and Australia’s beautiful light.
She has recently exhibited in a number of shows, including at Art4All, Brunswick Street Gallery and incub8.r in Fitzroy.
Throughout lockdown in 2020 Steph was studying a Diploma in Visual Arts at Northern College of the Arts and Technology in Preston and was set an assignment to capture her life in isolation. She collaborated with a fellow student to make a book celebrating the lighter side of the Melbourne lockdown titled ‘The year we stayed at home’.
The works featured in the Alphington Neighbourhood Gallery include a selection of illustrations, including some from the book, along with some sketches of houses.
If you are interested in purchasing a copy of the book, any of the illustrations, or in commissioning a house illustration of your own propery, or for someone you love, you can email Steph at stephbriggsdesign@gmail.com.
