Recycled Timber Design Workshop

I f you came along to the Alphington Open Studios event at ACC in December last year you would have seen some really beautiful recycled timber chopping boards made by local artisan Jane Hausegger.

In Term 2 she has offered to run a workshop for us here at ACC, to teach people in the community how to select, cut, finish and dress recycled timber to safely use for kitchen products (that make amazing gifts) such as coffee paddles and chopping boards.

If you are interested in developing your timber skills you’ll love this course that has a focus on simple, beautiful and sustainable creations.

The workshop is on Saturday 6 May from 10am-12pm in our Community Shed and it costs $130 (which includes all materials). You can book in here.

Our recent Christmas Makers Market in photos!!

Thank you to all the lovely stall holders that brought their fantastic items for sale last Saturday.

We hope you all enjoyed the atmosphere and the great food, face painting and kids craft on offer.

Here are some lovey photos of the day!

Calling local artists

Local artists … do you want to be part of the Alphington Open Studios salon exhibition coming up in late November and early December here at ACC? We’re looking for creative locals to participate. You can enter 2 works. Find out more and sign up here. It is free to enter.

New page

Thanks Annie.

On the weekend local artist Annie Bolitho ran her New Page workshop here at ACC. Adults and children joined in this intergenerational creating experience to explore hand crafted bookmaking and page making … using flowers such as nasturtium and violets to create prints and learning how to then build up layers of collage and add stamping to make gorgeous art books and diaries.

We hope everyone was inspired.

Visible mending monthly

Hi Kalimna here. Last weekend I attended the wonderful slow stitch workshop and was so pleased to take some photos while soaking in the calm vibe whilst learning all about this relaxing and creative process.

I was totally inspired by Serene’s personal style. She showed us some really cool things she had transformed with her creative slow stitching. And her overall artistic flair is infectious.

Did you know that Serene is also hosting monthly visible mending gatherings here at the Alphington Community Centre?

They are on the first Saturday of each month in September, October and November from 10am-11:30am.

You can book a place here.

It is $15 to attend. Bring along your project and work on mending your items beautifully with the help and guidance of Serene and enjoy the company of other like-minded creative repairers.
