This semester we have changed the format of our Women in the Shed classes. Instead of a longer course, we are offering two short courses with a focus on building and exploring specific skills ….
Running from Thursday 1 August for 4 weeks from 10am-12pm, this course will introduce you to hand saws and planes and files, perhaps some drilling … and also teach you about finishing timber - including sanding, staining, oiling etc.
It will set you up to have more confidence to undertake basic timber maintenance or small timber projects around your home.
It costs $145. You can book in here.
From Thursday 24 October for 4 weeks from 10am-12pm we’ll be running our Mosaics 101 again. In this course you’ll learn how to tile and grout … super handy skills around the home … whilst making something beautiful! Basic materials are provided, but we encourage you to go to the op shop or dig around at home and find some beautiful patterned ceramics that will make your creation(s) uniquely pop.
Whilst this class will start at the basics for anyone learning new skills - we’re also happy to help you keep exploring the wonderful world of mosaics if you have done it before - and are keen for some company and inspiration.
The cost is $145. You can book in here.
Want to learn how to plan and make your own independent podcast?
Join Ben McKenzie here at ACC. Starting on Monday 30 July from 1-3pm and running for 4 weeks, Ben will guide you through the process.
Ideal for small business owners, artists or enthusiasts of any variety who would like to document and share their ideas through podcasting .. and/or learn new practical skills.
The cost is $220.
You can book in here.
If you have family doing VCE you might be interested in booking them in to our simulated exam experiences on Saturday mornings throughout October.
They can bring a practise exam paper or two along and we’ll provide 3 hours of strictly timed active supervision to help students:
Get on with actually doing some practise exams
Get used to managing their time in exams, and
Feel more comfortable with formal exam conditions.
Sounds good? Book in here. The sessions will run from 9am-12pm. The cost is $15.
Alphington Arts, our new night time arts group will kick off on Thursday 18 July at 7.30pm. The idea behind this group is that we keep costs down by different people sharing their creative knowledge and skills. We’ll have 4 sessions over the coming semester (2 per term).
And first up we’ll be exploring basket weaving with Kayti Murphy. You may have seen Kayti’s baskets at our makers markets - or bought her teatowels and/or pickled radishes.
Thanks so much Kayti for volunteering to share your knowledge and skills.
So … if you are keen to join in you can join up for the semester here.
And then come along for some low key creative evenings. BYO drinks and/or snacks to share if you are so inclined.
