We are back etc

After a much needed holiday we’re back on deck today and looking forward to resuming our programs and catching up.

And … in holiday news … we were super pleased to be notified over the break that we received a grant through the Australian Mens Shed Association (AMSA) to buy a defibrillator for ACC.

We’ll let you know when it arrives. Once it is installed it will be publicly accessible 24/7 … a wonderful and potentially life saving community asset.

Thanks Suzanne for applying for the grant (as always you are a marvel) and thanks Liz for getting back to us so quickly on behalf of AMSA. Also thanks to Kath from Darebin Council who actioned the letter of support and provided us with advice on the preferred defibrillators for Council owned buildings. It was very helpful!

School holidays

Holidays are on the way. We’ll finish up this Friday and take two weeks off. This means we’ll reopen in the first week of October. See you then.

Lovely to have the Minister for Women and Minister for Education Natalie Hutchins and local MP Kat Theophanous at Peer Support Playgroup on Tuesday.

We talked about how neighbourhood houses started as women’s organisations (and Natalie took a tour around the centre) before Natalie chatted to some mums about managing work and the juggle with family, childcare etc. - issues exacerbated for families living with disability.

She also talked o Sarah who volunteers here and is completing her VCE as a mature aged student part time through CAE.

Thanks for organising Kat. It is super for our community to have direct, thoughtful and meaningful conversations at this level.

Local matters ...

Through September we are one of the projects that you can select to support with your token in the Local Matters jars at Grill’d. So, if you are down at Station Street and keen for a burger look out for us … and vote!

And thanks Grill’d for supporting all the great local community things that happen in our neighbourhood!
