Plan your day
Hi, Leanne here again!
Even though plans and I aren’t generally the best of friends, I do know that one of the ways we can look after ourselves when everything changes is to wrangle some control back with a plan.
So last Monday I made a weekly meal plan. I signed the kids up to cook a meal each, and a snack each. And I headed to Coles brimming with intention and confidence. I bought all the things we needed. And a few other* things as well.
Unfortunately by Monday evening I had cooked a total of zero of the three meals planned … I cooked Wednesday’s lunch (potato and leek soup) instead of the dimmies that were already in the freezer (a solid health choice, so a big a pat on the back for me) then I cooked chicken burgers for dinner instead of bolognese (part of my impulse shopping) and then we had banana muffins for morning tea (hello impulse shopping again!).
In truth, the week progressed in much the same light. Our only successes - Wednesday, Thursday and then Friday dinner (which might not count as it was takeaway). The rest was all over the place!
Fail? No! …
The kids are asking for a meal plan for next week
Even if we didn’t stick to it exactly** at least it gave me some structure to my shopping, and
I quite like the bright pink and purple adjustments to the boring black and white starting point …
*my downfall
**really not at all!
